Our Peru team's flight from Miami to Birmingham was cancelled this morning. Apparently, earlier this week a fire "severely affected aircraft fueling capabilities at Miami International Airport" and has caused delays and cancellations ever since (See American Airlines website for their official statement).
Because of all of that, our guys were re-routed on Delta to Jacksonville, Florida (JAX). They were supposed to go from JAX to Atlanta (ATL) this afternoon and then onto Birmingham by 6:30pm. Well that didn't happen. Due to overcrowded airspace in and around Atlanta and a vague weather condition, their flight was diverted to Charleston, SC - where the refueled and hit the skies once again ... and they are still going!
That's right, they have not yet reached ATL. Which also means, they still do not have an estimated arrival time in Birmingham. According to Delta's website, they are estimated to land in ATL at 9:40pm our time.
Please pray for these guys. They left Pucallpa, Peru yesterday afternoon around 4pm to begin their journey home. That was almost 30 hours ago! Pray that they get home to their families safely and quickly.
