Wow. What a tremendous week we had in San Diego . I actually stayed a couple of extra days with family there and was able to speak with several members from Harbor, post-mission, and have some wonderful updates that I wanted to pass along.
1) At Harbor Church Sunday morning, I was approached, separately, by 5 different members of the Harbor/World Impact Team and each of them thanked us profusely for the incredible work and service that our team blessed them with. They were so sorry that they were not able to express that directly to us as a group. Even though none of us came to receive accolades, it is still important to know that they appreciated our investment and service greatly and did not take it for granted. They all acknowledged that they absolutely could not have pulled off the week without us!
2) At the service, Isabel and Kevin, the two interns who received Christ this week, each shared in front of the church and were baptized by Stephen. It was a beautiful service. Of course, many children and others in the community were greatly impacted and made decisions of faith during the week.
3) Later on Sunday we went by Marnie's house. She is the lady who is moving into the projects and will be starting a charter school there in the fall of 2011. We helped her with various projects around her house such as painting, cleaning out and hauling off yard trash. She DID move in Saturday and the place looks incredible! All the painting had been finished, the kitchen sink put up, the tile finished in the bathroom, all the paper pulled off the recently refinished hardwood floors, and most of her furniture in the house. You wouldn't believe how good it looks! She still doesn't have running water, but that should be finished this week?? I also found out that since her house is in a blighted area, that she was able to get a grant from the city that she will be able to use to paint the exterior of the house, put up a new fence, and do all of her landscaping. Glory be! Lastly, please continue to pray for Marnie, as we also found out that her next door neighbor is apparently in the Blood gang and has about 15 of his "boys" hanging out there each night. I trust greatly that the Lord will protect her, but may we be faithful to intercede for this special lady.
Because of the faithfulness and investment this week of our team and MBCC, eternity will never be the same! Hearts have been won, seeds planted, others watered and a foundation laid to cut a path of righteousness through the thick darkness that resides and controls the City Heights community. God is interested in individuals and each of us got to know and impacted many this week. Thank you for your obedience.
Thank you to all for your prayers and support of our team!
The San Diego Team
