Today three of our team members flew back to the US (Mandy, Jordan, and Andy). Since Henri was already going to Port-au-Prince, he asked if our whole team wanted to tag along so he could show us the city. We had all hoped to have this opportunity, but did not know if it was possible. Since the opportunity came, we all took it. We packed into small crew cab pick-up truck and after dropping the trio off at the airport, Henri cruised us around Port. The sights and sounds we experienced are nearly impossible to put down in writing. We saw tent cities, earthquake devastation, some "nicer" areas of town and even when to a scenic overlook on top of the mountains behind Port and had a breathtaking view of the whole city. It was quite a lot to take in. I think each team member will have rich stories to share from that visit to the city.
The team time has been very good. We've analyzed what we are experiencing in this snapshot of life in Haiti. We talked about "Mission", the Gospel, and our role in it. We've talked about God's plan and the way He graciously allows us to be a part of it. Watching the sunset over the ocean from Canaan's hillside is a daily bonus.
Tomorrow we will be rotating through the nutrition clinic to help and observe. Please pray for the nutrition project. Please pray too for Jessica DeLaney who, after serving here for 2 months, will be finishing her last day at the clinic before returning to the States with our team.
Thank you so much for your prayers. Please keep them up. Pray that we will finish well here and that God will glorify Himself through our brief time at Canaan.
